We are so lucky to have two types of blackberries that grow wild here. Himalayan blackberries are actually considered an invasive species (they grow anywhere and everywhere and will take over) but their fruit at this time of the year is magical. Cutleaf evergreen blackberries (Rubus laciniatus) are less invasive and less plentiful here, but are also very delicious. This took some sweat equity, about 40 minutes picking time and a few scratches later and I have more than enough for a crumble or a smoothie, or to freeze for winter. I hope to pick at least my weight in berries this season. (July 20th, 2015)
